While working full-time at a community center, he attended law school, passing the bar with distinction. He served as a Special Assistant Corporation Counsel prosecuting child neglect cases and as an Assistant District Attorney. After the attacks of 9-11, Steven Raiser joined the U.S. Army and volunteered for deployment to Iraq. He earned the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the Army Commendation Medal for service during combat operations. His unit received the N.Y.
