Thanksgiving, and I sent pitches to three
publishers with four of the six chapters.
McFarland & Company answered me right
away, saying they loved it and asking me to
give them a call.
They’ve been great so far. They’ve been
around for 50 years so they’re a reputable
publisher. It was a lot easier than I ever
thought it would be, but at the same time, since
day one, it has been a huge labor of passion, love,
hard work and elbow grease. I was trying to do
something that has never been done before.
There’s also compromise. I remember they
changed the title of the book on me. It was
supposed to be The Love of Games.
I was so upset. My wife said they’re trying
to position your book to tell what it’s about. I
repeated their title and it sounded better each
time. I trust them as they’ve done everything right
by me.
On current state of
I think the Nintendo Switch has a wonderful
opportunity. If you’ve played Zelda on it, it’s
amazing. I’ve never been able to play a game that
good visually and that has that much depth on a
handheld console. It’s a wonderful opportunity.
If they can get more third party support and get
more sports and mature games on there, it will
be great. They have a great indie game presence.

It can change gaming but they can’t do it by
themselves. They need other companies.
VR I think is fad. I think it’s going to
die hard in the next couple of years. I
played Resident Evil 7 on VR during
Comic Con. Then I did an interview with
the developer and he said you could
also play without VR. I said that’s the
problem. You force people to experience
it that way. I played the game without VR
and it’s still great.
I play games on my couch, relaxing or
on a bus or plane. It’s all about comfort.
The reason why PlayStation 4 is solid is
that it has great original games.
The reason why the movie industry
is struggling is because they’re making
reboots like “Power Rangers” and
“Ghostbusters.” They’re out of ideas.
As long as the gaming industry doesn’t
go down that path, it will continue growing.
The next fi ve years are going to be a lot of fun
-- there are so many diff erent ways to game.
