Nowadays, streaming channels like Netflix, Hulu and even Amazon are stepping up their respective games
when it comes to original content. But, sometimes viewers just crave a good classic watch. Have no fear. Those
same channels (and apps) that have your back on a lazy Sunday or an extra-long commute also come in clutch
when it comes to vintage views.
“The Twilight Zone”
– Available on Netlix and Hulu – The brainchild of Emmy Award-winner Rod
Serling, “The Twilight Zone” is a strange mix of horror, science-fiction, drama,
comedy and superstition that has kept viewers coming back for decades.
Serling, who served as host and wrote over 80 episodes of the original show's
150-plus episode run, introduced each episode – many of which boasted a
surprise ending. Renowned for being a fantasy and supernatural lover’s
dream show, “The Twilight Zone” ran for five seasons on CBS from 1959 to
1964. Four of those seasons are available to stream on Netflix, while all five
are up for binging on Hulu.
“Scrubs”
– Available on Netflix and Hulu – Though arguably not as “vintage” as
shows like “The Twilight Zone,” “Scrubs,” which ran from 2001 to 2010, is the
perfect quick comedy to binge. With all nine of its seasons available on both
Netflix and Hulu, you can spend a day (or, an entire weekend – your choice)
with J.D. (Zach Braff), Turk (Donald Faison) and Elliot (Sarah Chalke) as they
learn the ropes at Sacred Heart Hospital.
