“The Shining”
– Available on Netflix – If you’re
looking for more of a classic flick
than a classic show, both Netflix
and Hulu offer an array of old
school movies like the 1980 British-
American psychological horror film
“The Shining.” Available only on
Netflix, this Jack Nicholson classic
is a perfect rainy day watch. In it,
Jack Torrance (played by Nicholson)
becomes caretaker at the isolated
Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping
to cure his writer's block. There, he
settles in along with his wife, Wendy
(Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny
(Danny Lloyd), who is plagued
by psychic premonitions. Horror
ensues.
“Grease”
– Available on Netflix – If you’re looking for a more
light-hearted movie, “Grease” might be the one for you.
Also only available on Netflix, this 1978 classic has
all the quintessential feel-good themes: friendship,
catchy tunes and a good old summer romance. Plus,
it’s got John Travolta.

– Available on Hulu – Thank you for being a friend, Hulu. Thanks to the Internet, you can stream all
seven seasons of this Betty White classic featuring four mature women (and friends) who live together
in Miami and experience the joys and angst of their golden years. With similar themes to college (love,
friendship, heartbreak and success), “The Golden Girls” (1985-1992) is the perfect classic to binge with
your roomies come the weekend and study breaks.
Honorable Mention:
Classic Cartoons
Hulu currently has a nostalgia-inducing array of
Saturday morning cartoons that will bring out the
child in just about any college kid. From “Rugrats” and
“Hey! Arnold” to “Jimmy Neutron” and “Invader Zim,”
we here at Aspire bet you can’t get through the menu
without binging at least one.
