XBOX’S NEW STRATEGY
They’re thinking outside of the box. Pun intended.
Make no mistake -- Microsoft’s system, the Xbox
One, and its many iterations are doing just fine.
Sales are good. But to a mega company that is used
to winning, especially the gaming market, fine and
good won’t do.
So they’re going back to square one in creating
titles that can only be played on Microsoft systems.
And they’re offering a premium version of the system.
If you have the income and the desire to get higher
quality looking games on your Xbox, the Xbox One X
offers graphics on par with what you’d see from a PC,
which is the best of the best.
Of course if you don’t have the cash or resources,
the Xbox One S is pretty affordable.
THIRD PARTY GAMES
This was a very strong year for games that are
available on several platforms. Regardless of the
genre, studios came to the plate and delivered
terrific sequels, such as “Destiny 2,” “The Evil Within
2,” “NBA 2K18,” “Assassin’s Creed,” “Resident Evil
7” and “Middle Earth: Shadow of War.” And, the list
goes on.
RETRO ACCESSIBILITY
Companies know you’re yearning for the games
you grew up with or wanted to play but were too young
for when they were released. Nintendo has released
mini versions of its past consoles featuring its best
retro games, and it’s easier to download (legally)
your favorite titles growing up on the Playstation
Store. In addition, compilations of old franchises
continue to be released.
