Ahh, the start of a new semester.
You’re fresh off winter break (and, likely a few
Netfl ix binges) and raring to go. The fi rst step
you take into this second half of the school year
can be crucial – and indicative of how the rest
of it is going to fi nish out. Here’s a few pro-tips
for starting your second semester on the right foot (and
keeping pace the whole way through):
Research your classes
ahead of time.
Try to get a jump on this semester’s academics by doing
a little digging into those courses on your weekly schedule.
Once you’ve got a grasp of what you’ll be studying this
semester, try to prepare accordingly. Do you need any
specifi c supplies? Are there any online reviews of your
professor?
Try your best to know your stuff beforehand. Though not
all the answers are going to be there for you, if you go in
willing to learn (and with at least an idea of what the course
is about) under your belt, you’ll already be better off than
everyone else in your class.
Look into early-move in.
Some schools off er early move-in options, or at the
very least, early time slots on the days that everyone else
can move in. Try to get your stuff back in as quickly and as
smoothly as possible. After all, a happy home is the root
of everything, and the sooner you’re settled into your
dorm or off -campus apartment, the more time you have to
reconnect with friends, hit the books and get to enjoying
yourself.
