Customers are greeted with a smile each and every time, as well as a plethora of plates to choose from. Whether you’re craving a salad (made in-house and right in front of you by Mike’s expert staff), a simple sandwich or a hefty serving of say, Chicken Francese or barbecue ribs (with all the trimmings, of course), they’ve got it The sparkling shop prepares some 25 different salads and about 40 different hot dishes – a different selection on each day of the week -- for enthusiastic customers (many of whom rave about the deli’s freshly made roast beef). It’s no wonder the deli, located just off the last stop of the R line in Brooklyn for decades, is the best in the borough. BEST DINER PARKVIEW DINER 2939 Cropsey Avenue (718) 333-9400 Often referred to as one of the last amazing diners Brooklyn has left, the Parkview Diner takes home bragging rights for the best in all the borough. A large, timeless, 24/7 diner at home on Cropsey Avenue, Parkview prides itself on its extensive menu, which includes all the diner classics – from burgers to omelettes to coffee and cake – as well as fun and exciting dishes like jambalaya and chicken piccata. Its gratuitous menu, paired with exemplarity customer service, add up to something special that just about any foodie can get behind. Hence, why Parkview Diner is best diner in all of Brooklyn. BEST DINING VIEW THE RIVER CAFE One Water Street (718) 522-5200 www.therivercafe.com This landmark eatery in the heart of DUMBO is renowned not just for its superb food and refined service but, perhaps most notably, for its breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline and New York Harbor. First opened in June of 1977, the restaurant – now newly renovated – has been serving up an American menu (which blends both classic and innovative cooking techniques with American and international styles) as well as an unbeatable atmosphere. Its views aside, the décor at River Café is enough to take the cake alone. Walk in and be transported, as River Café is more than just an awardwinning restaurant – it’s an experience. No wonder it’s the best in the borough. BEST DINNER DEAL IL FORNETTO 2902 Emmons Avenue (718) 332-8494 www.ilfornettorestaurant.com Il Fornetto, which translates to “little oven,” is much more than a little oven. In fact, the famed Italian restaurant is one of Brooklyn’s only waterfront dining experiences on Sheepshead Bay. The picturesque Italian eatery and event space, at home on Emmons Avenue, has been serving up wood-fired pizzas and impressive set-price dining menus for years. Lauded for the best dinner deal in town, Il Fornetto’s Dinner Prix Fixe deal gets you one appetizer, one entre and one dessert – all for just $26.95 per person. With all that and beautiful bay views, how could you go wrong? BEST EUROPEAN BROOKLYN BEET COMPANY 7205 Third Avenue (347) 492-0020 When it comes to best European in the borough, you can’t beat the beet – the Brooklyn Beet, that is. Bay Ridge’s Brooklyn Beet Company, at home on the busy Third Avenue strip for a couple of years now, boasts an extensive menu of beet-centric Eastern and Central European dishes (like, the fan-favorite Brooklyn Beet burger), all of which are served in the eatery’s intimate, brick-lined dining space. Though, its burgers can’t take all the praise. Signature European dishes like the restaurant’s Turnip-Squash Dumplings and Lake Champlain Rabbit Streetw are also popular among patrons. With a menu you more than likely won’t see anywhere else, especially in its hometown, it’s no surprise Brooklyn Beet Company ends its year with best of the borough bragging rights.
