A SPORTS BAR FOR THE COMMUNITY 32 JUNE 2 0 1 7 FOOD + DRINK By GINA CONTEH Australian native Padraic “Patrick” Sheridan offers Irish hospitality and traditional American-style eats at his sports bar in Woodside. Sheridan said his dreams were fulfilled in September of 2014 when opening The Brewery Bar and Kitchen — located at 49-18 30th Ave. in Woodside — after being in the restaurant business his entire life. After owning a restaurant in Greenwich Village for seven years, Sheridan said he was more than glad to find a space in his neighborhood of Woodside due to rising rent costs in Manhattan. To Sheridan, 30th Avenue was the perfect location for him to bring a quality sports bar to the area. “This is my neighborhood,” Sheridan said. “When we found this spot, we knew there was a market here for a good restaurant that serves the community.” Sheridan hosts viewings for sporting events throughout the year on the bar’s HD televisions. The Brewery is the official sports bar in the neighborhood for the New York City Football Club. Sheridan says that he hosts viewing parties for every away game, and he rents out buses to transport patrons to Yankee Stadium for home games. According to their Twitter account, The Brewery Bar and Kitchen was recently named one of the top two game day spots in all of New York State by Yelp. “It’s rewarding to see it,” Sheridan said. “We are not a corporation, we are not a multi-location operation, so we want people to feel comfortable and come back.” Aside from the brand-name beers offered at The Brewery, Sheridan introduced
