Candy, candy, who’s got the sweetest, most delicious, best purr babies this side of the moon? ITTYBITTYKITTYNY, that's who. Skittles and Twizzler are the grooviest three-year-old, kissin' cousins kitties, just-a-waiting to razzle 'n’ dazzle you with their charm and good looks. They were named Skittles and Twizzler because they are sweeter than cotton candy. They are an inseparable duo, rescued together, and must stay together. They will double your fun, double your pleasure and double your love. "I, Skittles, am a black and white female, who loves to eat my kitty cat candy, and likes my chin rubs and petting. I can be a sweet talker, too. I am very protective of Twizzler, who is shyer than I am. He likes to Past presidents of the Brooklyn Cathedral Club. play hide and seek, mostly hide. We would make a meeowingly purrfect addition to your family. See y'all soon.” *** Incredibly loving and sweet senior cat searching for a home! “Kuzya (aka "Kuz," pronounced "kooz") is a friendly 14-year-old male cat. He is very affectionate and loves to snuggle up with everyone he meets. Despite his age, he also loves to play and socialize. He is generally healthy; however he does need some additional attention to his diet (just extra fiber and water with his meals). “He is my family cat that I have been taking care of after my dad passed away and my mom moved to Russia. My work schedule and living situation make it difficult for me to take care of him much longer. I will be moving to the Prospect Park area and will not be home enough to give him the attention he needs. “If you are looking for a mature cat with a lot of endless love to give, Kuzya is the perfect fit. Education Council 20, which is headed by Laurie Windsor, will be highlighting its June monthly meeting agenda with a special salute to the PTA/PAs that serve all the public schools in District 20. The laudatory session will take place on Wednesday, June 11, at 7 p.m., at P.S./I.S. 30, 7001 Fourth Avenue. It will also be an opportunity for parents from other schools to see the interior of the district's newest school that was built on the former site of the Bay Ridge United Methodist Church aka the Green Church). * * * What an absolute terrific turnout for the street co-naming ceremonies in honor of the late, great Tom Kane. The block that Kane grew up on 88th street near Colonial Road was formally dedicated Tom Kane Way and was even blessed by Reverend Gerard Sauer, the pastor of St. Mel's Church, a former associate pastor at Bay Ridge's St. Patrick's Church and a personal friend. A host of dignitaries were on hand to join Kane's family, friends and associates on this auspicious occasion. City Councilmember Vinnie Gentile -- who ensured the full Council approved the co-naming, wrote in the program, "A lifelong Bay Ridge resident, Tom's tremendous contributions and achievements left an indelible mark on the community he loved so much." Close friend Frankie Marra sang and played "Forever Young" by Bob Dylan. Kane was a big, big Dylan fan! * * * Among the marching groups in the recent 147th annual Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade was the Society of Old Brookynites. The civic organization has been marching in every Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade since its founding in 1880. Its fi rst march was led by former Brooklyn Mayor John Ward Hunter, and the 2014 march was led by Society President and Brooklyn historian Ronald Schweiger. On Sunday, June 22, at 12:30 p.m., the society will be celebrating its 134th anniversary at the Bay Ridge Manor, 476 76th Street. The keynoter for the occasion will be society member and New York State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Schack who will be talking about the history of the Boy Scouts, prominent Eagle Scouts, and since he was a former attorney for Major League Baseball, a few hits, runs and strikes. Also on the program will be former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz discussing his new role as vice president of borough promotion and engagement for NYC and Co. The event is open to the public. Reservations are only $46 which includes a full sit-down dinner. Contact Sherman Silverman at 718-748- 3165 or send him a check payable to the Society of Old Brooklynites, 340 Marine Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11209. * * * Former Science Assistant Principal and a past Bay Ridge Community Council President, Tom Greene was back at Denyse Wharf and the adjoining small beach under the shadow of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge for his group's 25th Bi-Annual Wharf and Beach Cleanup. This year, he was joined by 75 high school and grade school volunteers. Greene continues to press efforts to establish a Marine Environmental Science Lab at the site. He is also currently a professor at Kingsborough College. Maria Makrinos, the new president of the Fort Hamilton High School Alumni Association, stopped, by bringing free doughnuts for all the volunteers. * * * The Kings County Republican Party is holding its 2014 Lincoln Day Reception and Dinner on Sunday, June 22, from noon to 3 p.m., at Gargiulo’s in Coney Island. Among the honored guests will be Westchester County The Cathedral Club of Brooklyn, which dates back to the year 1900, held its annual installation dinner at Gargiulo's Restaurant in Coney Island on June 9. Prior to the start of the patriotic march that celebrates the birthday of America, there will be a service and awards ceremony starting at 9:30 a.m.in Saint Paul's Church at Congress Street. At the ceremonies, late NYPD Detective Steven McDonald will receive the parade group's Pro-Patria Award posthumously. It will be presented to his wife Patricia Ann McDonald. Then NYPD Sergeant Conor McDonald, Steve's son, will lead the parade as the 2017 grand marshal.
