8 JUNE 16 – JUNE 22, 2017 BROOKLYN MEDIA GROUP POLICE BEAT THREE-CAR ACCIDENT ON THE GOWANUS LEAVES 29-YEAR-OLD DRIVER DEAD WOMAN IN HER 60S IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER BEING STRUCK BY CAR IN DYKER HEIGHTS According to police, the incident occurred in front of 1353 Bay Ridge Parkway at about 5:03 a.m. Authorities claim that, at the time of the accident, a 58-year-old male was traveling eastbound on the roadway in a 2013 Toyota with a steady green light when he struck the woman as she was attempting to cross from north to south mid-block. According to police, at about 4:57 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, cops responded to a report of a vehicle collision on the route at 72nd Street, within the confines of the 68th Precinct. An investigation revealed that, at the time of the crash, a white 2013 Chevrolet Camaro was travelling westbound on the Gowanus when it collided with a white 2015 Infiniti. After the initial collision, the Camaro veered into a guard rail which caused the car to overturn; also as a result of the collision, the Infiniti struck the rear end of a 2008 blue Honda Accord. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the driver of the Camaro unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to his torso. Emergency Medical Services transported the man to NYU Lutheran Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The two occupants of the Infiniti were also transported to NYU Lutheran for evaluation while the occupants of the Honda Accord refused medical attention at the scene. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. —Meaghan McGoldrick A woman in her 60s was in critical condition Tuesday, June 13 after being struck by a car near the corner of 13th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway earlier that morning. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend. PERP USES TASER ON WOMAN: A 30-year-old man tased and robbed a 32-yearold woman on Bay 40th Street between Harway and Bath Avenues on Tuesday, June 6. Reports say that at around 9:10 p.m., the woman was walking home from shopping when the perp grabbed her handbag, which included credit and debit cards and a cellphone. He then took out a taser, used it on her face and pulled her to the floor. The man, with her bag in his possession, went inside a parked car and fled the scene. WOMAN ROBBED AT GUNPOINT: A 44-year-old woman was held at gunpoint and robbed by two men on Avenue O between McDonald Avenue and Dahill Road on Tuesday, June 6. According to reports, around 11:40 p.m., the men described in their mid-twenties, approached the woman, took out the gun, stole two of her cellphones, and struck her in the back of the head with the firearm. The men then fled the scene in an unknown direction. PLAQUE ATTACK: Two men went inside a pharmacy at Bay 40th Street and 86th Street on Tuesday, June 6, at 8:19 a.m., wielded a knife and stole several toothbrushes. A clerk tried to stop the men but one of them took out a knife and demanded that he get out of the way. The two thieves then fled to a nearby parking lot, jumped in a minivan and fled the scene. No arrests have been made. WOMAN GETS STOLEN ITEMS BACK FROM CROOKS: A woman was nearly robbed of her backpack on a bus at 21st Avenue and Bath Avenue on Wednesday, June 7 at around 4 p.m. Reports say that three men, described as 18 years old, snatched the bag containing Gucci and Chanel glasses. The three then fled on foot southbound on 21st Avenue. The woman chased the perps down, eventually got the bag back and returned to the bus. The victim only sustained a bruised knee during the chase. No arrests have been made. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights, Windsor Terrace and South Park Slope. MAN ROBBED AT GUNPOINT: A 22-year-old man was busted for robbing an 18-year-old man at gunpoint on the southwest corner of 10th Avenue and Windsor Place on Tuesday, June 6 at around midnight. Reports say that the victim was walking home from his friend’s house when the alleged perp approached him and asked to use his cellphone. He then pointed a long barrel black revolver at the victim, demanded money and told the victim to look the other way and continue walking. The robber then fled southbound on 10th Avenue toward Prospect Avenue. A suspect was arrested shortly after. WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY AND ATTACKING SECURITY: A 24-yearold woman was arrested for attempting to rob a department store on 32nd Street between Second and Third Avenues at around 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 8. Cops say that the woman tried to steal around $600 worth of items, including a handbag and shoes. She was spotted by an employee and, as she tried to flee the scene, she punched the store’s security guard in the face. An off-duty officer was also punched in the face by the alleged perp before she was apprehended. STRIKE-OUT: A 26-yearold man was busted by cops for assaulting a 54-year-old woman on 63rd Street on Saturday, June 10. Reports say that at around 11 p.m., during an altercation, the man spat at her then went inside his home, grabbed a baseball bat and swung it at the victim, hitting her on her left arm. MAN STEALS 5K-PLUS OF ELECTRONICS: A 31-year-old man had his vehicle broken into after parking it at 56th Street and Fifth Avenue on Saturday, June 10 at around 3:50 p.m. Reports say that in just 15 minutes, an unknown perp opened the door, and stole 12 cell phones and tablets, worth approximately $5,300, that belonged to the victim's employer. No forced entry was seen. No arrests have been made. WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY: An apartment on 23rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues was burglarized on Tuesday, June 6. According to reports, the occupant, a 31-year-old man, left his home at around 2 p.m. While he was gone, an unknown perp entered through the bedroom window, which had been left unlocked, and stole around $2,630 worth of property, including a computer, speaker and tools. When the victim returned the following day at around 1:45 a.m., he saw his apartment in disarray and realized his property was missing. No arrests have been made. 62ND PRECINCT 72ND PRECINCT trauma to her body, laying on the roadway.
