It’ll be St. Patrick’s Day all weekend
long.
Irish eyes will be smiling all
along Prospect Park West on Sunday,
March 18 as another Brooklyn St.
Patrick’s Parade envelops Park Slope.
The parade, in its 43rd year, will step
off at 15th Street and Prospect Park
West following a pre-parade mass
at Holy Name of Jesus Church (245
Prospect Park West) at 9 a.m. and a
“Rededication Ceremony” to the heroes
and victims of 9/11 at the start of the
route at 12:45 p.m.
This year’s grand marshal is Richard
Moylan, president of Green-Wood
Cemetery.
Aides to the grand marshal are
Malachy McAllister (United Irish
Counties Association of New York);
Thomas Galligan (Grand Council of
United Emerald Societies, New York
City Department of Sanitation); Tracy
Sullivan (owner of Connie O's Pub in
Greenpoint); Dorothy Taylor (Principal
of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Academy);
Louise O’Connor (Aide-at-Large,
Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Office
Manager); Thomas Alverson (piper
with the Clann Eireann Pipe Band);
Tommy McConvey (of the Brooklyn
Shamrocks Gaelic Football Club);
Joan Healy (Ladies Ancient Order of
Hibernian, Kings County Division 19,
Gerritsen Beach); and Kevin Smylie
(Ancient Order of Hibernians in
America, Kings County Division 35,
Flatbush).
A scene from last year’s parade.
