6 APRIL 21 – APRIL 27, 2017 BROOKLYN MEDIA GROUP POLICE SEEK SUNSET PHONE-SNATCHER Cops are searching for a suspect in a phone-snatching that took place in Sunset Park on Sunday, April 9 around noon. According to the police, it was then that the perp grabbed an iPhone out of the hand of a 17-year-old girl near 55th Street and Eighth Avenue, in the 72nd Precinct, taking off with it in an unknown direction. Cops describe the suspect as a Hispanic man between 18 and 25 years old, with a medium complexion. He The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton. BURGLAR STOLE HALF THE CASH: An apartment on 63rd Street between 10th and 11th Avenues was raided by a crook who walked away with around $240 in cash on Sunday, April 9. Police reports claim that at around 2:15 p.m., the resident, a 25-year-old woman, went to work. While she was gone, the unknown perp likely entered the apartment through the rear window which the victim had left open while she was gone, ransacked her bedroom closet and stole $240 of $540 that was inside an envelope. The victim returned the following day at around 1:15 a.m. and discovered the missing cash. GOOD WOOD: Cops arrested a 59-yearold man for hitting his co-worker, a 37-year-old man, with a piece of wood inside a Bay Ridge apartment on Thursday, April 13 at around 9:15 a.m. The altercation took place inside an apartment on 92nd Street and Shore Road where the alleged attacker struck the victim in the back with the wood, causing swelling to the shoulder. The man was arrested on assault charges. DELIVERY GONE BAD: A 35-year-old man delivering food was robbed by three men on the northeast corner of Colonial Road and 79th Street on Wednesday, April 12. Reports claim that at around 8:20 p.m., after he completed his delivery, a man grabbed him from behind while two other men went through his pockets and stole $250. The three then fled in an unknown direction. No arrests have been made. POLICE BEAT was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, dark pants and gray sneakers. The victim was not injured in the incident. BREAK-IN FOR NOTHING: A 30-year-old woman's Bath Beach apartment was broken into through a side window, although nothing was stolen. On Sunday, April 16 at around 3 p.m., the woman returned to her place near 83rd Street and 23rd Avenue and found the front door open with damage to the lock. When she went to the rear bedroom, she saw that a crook had kicked in the air conditioner and ransacked the room. However, according to the woman, nothing was taken and she believes she knows who is responsible. FAST AND FURIOUS: A 73-year-old man had his car stolen after parking it at Bay 20th Street and Bath Avenue on Saturday, April 15 at around 5:40 p.m. According to reports, when the victim returned to the spot a couple of hours later, the vehicle was missing despite his having both sets of keys in his possession. COWARDS BUSTED FOR ROBBING TEEN: A 41-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were arrested by cops for trying to rob a 17-year-old male of his cell phone while he was walking along 25th Avenue near 86th Street on Monday, April 10. Reports claim that at around 3:52 p.m., the alleged crooks punched the victim in the face, took the phone and fled eastbound on 86th Street. The two were later found and apprehended by cops; however, the phone has not been recovered. STOLEN CAR PARTS: An unknown perp went underneath a parked car, belonging to a 33-year-old man, and stole a catalytic converter on Friday, April 14. According to reports, at around 10 p.m., the man returned to his car and discovered that the car part, worth over $3,000, was missing. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights, Windsor Terrace and South Park Slope. THE STICKLER: A 57-year-old woman was arrested by officers for hitting a 28-year-old woman with a wooden stick on Seventh Avenue and 51st Street on Wednesday, April 12 at around 8:10 p.m. According to reports, the two were in the middle of an argument when the alleged attacker struck the victim in the face with the weapon. The victim was taken to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. The older woman was charged with assault. IT'S ELECTRIC: An unknown male perp broke into a store on the corner of 44th Street and Eighth Avenue and stole three electric bikes on Friday, April 14. According to reports, the man broke the fish eye on the 33-year-old male owner’s metal gate and removed the locks to get the bikes, worth approximately $4,350. Image courtesy of the NYPD BUSTED ON DRUG POSSESSION: A 23-year-old man was arrested when officers saw him smoking crack cocaine on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 56th Street on Monday, April 17 at around 8:15 p.m. along with having amounts of heroin. When police approached him, they saw that the man was also in possession of large quantities of heroin and two small bags of crack cocaine. CRAZY TAXI: A 38-year-old man was in a cab when the driver stole his debit card and made unauthorized charges on it at 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue on Sunday, April 16. According to reports, at around 5:40 a.m., the victim told the driver he had no cash and instead gave him his debit card with the pin number. The driver took the card and made unauthorized withdrawals at a nearby bank. Afterwards, the driver told the passenger, who was intoxicated, to get out of the car.
