DELIVERY GONE WRONG Cops say a 28-year-old delivery man at a local bagel store was nearly robbed after dropping off food near Third Avenue and 78th Street on Monday, April 18. According to police, at around 3:30 a.m., the man was walking back to the store when a crook, described by the victim as a black man, approached him with a knife and demanded money. The perp then grabbed the delivery man’s jacket pocket to steal his property before fleeing the scene empty handed. EMPTY HANDED PERP Police say that a man attempted to steal a 28-year-old woman’s bag at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Monday, April 18. The woman was walking towards the northeast corner of Fourth Avenue and 78th Street when the man approached her from behind and attempted to nab the bag off her shoulder. When he failed to steal the victim’s bag, he allegedly fled down 78th street into the alley. No injuries were reported. MORE TIRE AND RIM THEFTS A 73-year-old woman became the latest Bay Ridge resident to have their tires and rims stolen from their vehicles. According to police, the woman parked her car near 71st Street and Shore Road on Monday, April 18 at around 2 p.m. and, when she returned to the parking spot at 9 a.m. the next morning, she realized a perp had stolen both tires and rims from the front and rear driver side of her vehicle. They were worth approximately $1,600. No arrests have been made LOCAL PHARMACY ROBBED Cops say a local pharmacy was robbed on Wednesday, April 20. According to police, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a male crook entered store -- located near Fifth Avenue and 72nd Street -- approached the 48-year-old female cashier, showed her a pocket knife and demanded money. Once the employee opened the cash register, the perp, described by cops as wearing red gloves and a mask, stole $329 dollars from register. He then fled southbound on Fifth Avenue. PAIN IN THE NECK A 68-year-old woman had her $300 necklace stolen by a male perp on Thursday, April 12 at around 1:30 p.m, according to police. DEATH THREAT A 14-year-old Hispanic male teenager was walking near Fifth Avenue and 45th Street on Saturday, December 5 at approximately 8:05 p.m. when an 18-year-old Hispanic man confronted him and tried to steal his cell phone. After a struggle, the perp hit the teen in the face, causing the phone to drop. When the victim recovered the phone, the perp said, “Give me the phone or you’re going to die.” Police arrived and apprehended the perp, who resisted arrest. BAR BASH Cops report that a 22-yearold Asian man had his iPhone snatched on Tuesday, December 8 at approximately 12:55 a.m. The victim was near a bar at Seventh Avenue and 61st Street when he was attacked by two perps, both 27-year-old Asian males, who punched him in the face several times before nabbing his phone. The two perps were later arrested. DOUBLE TROUBLE Misfortune struck twice for a 44-year-old Hispanic man whose home was burglarized twice in the space of 10 days, according to cops. DEATH THREAT A 14-year-old Hispanic male teenager was walking near Fifth Avenue and 45th Street on Saturday, December 5 at approximately 8:05 p.m. when an 18-year-old Hispanic man confronted him and tried to steal his cell phone. After a struggle, the perp hit the teen in the face, causing the phone to drop. When the victim recovered the phone, the perp said, “Give me the phone or you’re going to die.” Police arrived and apprehended the perp, who resisted arrest. BAR BASH Cops report that a 22-yearold Asian man had his iPhone snatched on Tuesday, December 8 at approximately 12:55 a.m. The victim was near a bar at Seventh Avenue and 61st Street when he was attacked by two perps, both 27-year-old Asian males, who punched him in the face several times before nabbing his phone. The two perps were later arrested. DOUBLE TROUBLE Misfortune struck twice for a 44-year-old Hispanic man whose home was burglarized twice in the space of 10 days, according to cops. The first incident came to light when the victim returned to his apartment building near Sixth Avenue and 46th Street on Thursday, November 24 at approximately 7:30 p.m. At that time, he discovered that his place had been ransacked yet nothing had been stolen. Then, on Friday, December 4, while the victim was sleeping in the apartment, it was again broken into. When the victim woke up, he realized that an intruder had been in his home, and that his passport and immigration papers had been stolen. No arrests have been made. ALL FOR NOTHING A 32-year-old woman returned home from a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday, December 13, to discover that an unknown perp had broken into her apartment near 61st Street and Fifth Avenue through the kitchen window near the fire escape. While the apartment had been ransacked, no property was stolen. LORD OF THE RINGS A jewelry thief broke into a home near Fifth Avenue and 62nd Street and stole several rings totaling approximately $4,960 on Monday, December 14. The break-in occurred sometime after 8:30 a.m.when the 62-yearold Hispanic woman living there left her place to go to work. When she returned, she saw her bedroom had been ransacked. Her dresser was open and the rings, including a diamond wedding ring set and a college ring, were missing. No arrests have been made. Precinct Between Monday, August 4 and Monday, August 11, the 68th Precinct received reports of one grand larceny, one robbery and two burglaries. BLING RING An unknown male entered a jewelry store near 86th Street and Fourth Avenue on Monday, August 4 around 4:20 p.m. and asked to look at some items. BACK WINDOW BANDIT A woman living near Third Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway told cops that a perp, known to the department, entered her apartment building through the fire escape window on Thursday, August 7 between 11:58 a.m. and 12:16 p.m. The suspect allegedly snatched the victim’s Apple MacBook but was then approached by the victim and fled through the back window. He was subsequently apprehended by the precinct’s anti-crime team. JEWEL THIEF On Friday, August 11 between 3 and 8 p.m. an unknown person allegedly entered a residence near 91st Street and Ridge Boulevard without permission through the front window fire escape and removed approximately $2,750 worth of miscellaneous jewelry. KNIFE TO THE NECK On Thursday, August 7 around 9:20 p.m., a man was riding his bike at the corner of Third Avenue and 68th Street when three unknown males approached him. According to cops, the first perp placed a knife to the victim’s neck from behind while the second allegedly reached into his pocket from behind and removed his iPhone 4 and wallet. All suspects fled in a four-door sedan. 62nd Precinct Between Tuesday, August 5 and Monday, August 11, the 62nd Precinct received reports of three robberies, nine burglaries, five felony assaults, seven grand larcenies and two auto thefts. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach Gravesend. LICENSE TO STEAL Police arrested a 24-year-old man and 26-year-old woman for allegedly ripping two gold necklaces off the necks of a couple who intervened when they saw them attempting to steal the license plate off of their friend’s car at 86th Street and Bay 17th Street on Sunday night, August 10. The victims also sustained injuries to their eyes, head and chest during the alleged assault. BOILING MAD Police are searching for a man who is believed to have scammed a 66-year-old West 13th Street resident out of $7,000 intended as payment for supplies to fix the victim’s boiler. The suspect allegedly claimed to work for Grand D Sewer and Plumbing—a non-existent company. STOLEN RIDES A gray 2011 Dodge was stolen from an auto repair shop on 18th Avenue near 86th Street some time between August 5 and 8, said police, who were contacted after the 32-year-old female owner was told by shop workers that they didn’t know who took it. Police are searching for the man who was caught on camera driving off with a 2008 Honda motorcycle that didn’t belong to him at around 2:56 a.m. on Thursday, August 7. The suspect allegedly scouted out the motorcycle twice before returning with a helmet to the spot on 81st Street near Bay Parkway where the motorcycle was parked, and stealing it. BOTTLE BASH Police are searching for a white male who allegedly hit a 16-yearold Asian teen in the face with a glass bottle at a mutual acquaintance’s barbecue on 83rd Street near 16th Avenue at around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, leaving the teen with a cut to his left cheek. A/C ENTRY The air conditioning unit of an apartment at 64th Street near 16th Avenue was removed in order for a burglar to gain access and steal $300 in cash plus electronics and a cell phone early Wednesday morning, August 6, said police. The day before, on August 5, a resident on 63rd Street near 17th Avenue also came home to a ransacked house, stolen electronics and jewelry, and an air-conditioner that had been removed and replaced.
