It o ers a relaxing 25-minute commute (each way), as well as terminals that house restaurants, shops and museums and so much more as commuter hubs. On Staten Island, that includes Staten Island Rapid Transit, and a bus hub and transfer station. The ferries operate 24/7 as well so whether in the city for work or play, the Staten Island Ferry will always get you there with majestic views of the New York skyline, Lady Liberty and all the sights of New York Harbor. And, an increasing number of passengers is taking advantage of all the ferry has to o er. According to the Mayor’s Management Report for Fiscal Year 2016, 23.1 million people rode the ferry between July, 2015 and June, 2016, representing a fi ve percent increase over the previous year, and beating the 2012 record of 22.2 million riders. Part of the increase in ridership may relect an increase in the number of ferries. In October, 2015, the city’s Department of Transportation added 25 ferry trips to the schedule, with boats departing no more than half an hour apart. Those looking to spend some quality leisure time on Staten Island shouldn’t forget the ferry is also the starting point for the Staten Island Yankees, New York Outlet Stores (Empire Outlets) and the soon-to-be-turning New York Wheel. For those looking to market to Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn and all who visit there, the ferry o ers a unique way to reach commuters and tourists alike. With the ferries’ and terminals’ extended captive audience, you have 25 minutes each way (shipboard) and 15 minute terminal time to reach the consumer, whether commuters or tourists.
