Bay Ridge celebrated the return
of the neighborhood’s Greenmarket
on Saturday, May 5 at
95th Street and Third Avenue in the
Walgreen's parking lot.
Now in its 11th year, the market
— nicknamed “Bay Ridge’s Town
Square” — is sponsored by Councilmember
Justin Brannan and
Grow NYC. Attendees can expect
to enjoy a great selection from local
farmers and purveyors providing
everything from freshly caught fish,
baked goods, cheese, and a bounty
of seasonal fruit and vegetables to
ciders, syrups and flowers.
“The Bay Ridge Greenmarket has
become one of those neighborhood
institutions that has a life of its own,"
said Brannan, who celebrated his
first Greenmarket as councilmember.
“It was so great to be back at the market
once again. I did some shopping
and caught up with a lot of friends
and neighbors. I look forward to each
Saturday as we shop for healthy and
locally grown food in what has really
come to be our neighborhood’s town
square.”
Farmers selling at the Greenmarket
include American Pride Seafood
from Suffolk County, New York;
Bread Alone from Ulster County,
New York; Consider Bardwell Farm
from Rutland County, Vermont;
Goodale Farms from Suffolk County,
New York; Jersey Farm from Hunterdon
County, New Jersey; Toigo
Orchards from Cumberland County,
Pennsylvania; and Wager's Cider
Mill from Yates County, New York.
“Long-time residents and families
who are new to the neighborhood
meet to shop, share recipes and
catch up with their neighbors at
this Greenmarket
that provides a
gathering space for
the tight-knit Bay
Ridge community,"
