Stormy National Night Out still a huge success
Despite a severe thunderstorm
that caused flooding and
power outages throughout
Queens, the 35th annual National
Night Out Against Crime was a smashing
success here in the 110th Precinct.
According to a tweet from the precinct
commanding officer, Captain
Nikola Ventre, the Aug. 7 event was
the most attended Night Out for the
precinct in 15 years. More than 3,500
people reportedly came to Flushing
Meadows Corona Park to enjoy a wide
variety of fun activities, meet their police
offi cers, engage with community
organizations and more.

Moya and Senator Jose Peralta
enjoyed the festivities as well.
Once the storm hit, the precinct
and Corona EMS sprung into action
when two men were struck
by lightning in another part of
the park. One of the men was in
critical condition, and the quick
response by Corona’s finest helped
saved his life.
