Happenings at the LeFrak City Library
You expect to fi nd books at a
library, but what about movie
screenings, dodgeball, and
board game competitions? Th e Le-
Frak City Library, located at 98-30
57th Avenue, in Section #4 of the
community, off ers all that and more
– and all of it’s free! Here are some
upcoming events worth putting on
the calendar:
Toddler Storytime: Children
ages 12 months to four years and
their adult caregivers are invited for
songs, stories, nursery rhymes and
coloring. June 27, July 11, 11 a.m.
Teen Trivia Showdown: Youths
ages 11 to 18 are invited to come test
their wits at a Friends of the Library
Trivia Night. Questions will cover
music, sports, history, and more.
June 28, 6 p.m.
Sidewalk Chalk and Summer
Reading Sign-Up: Meet outside in
front of the library to have fun with
sidewalk chalk and to sign up for the
exciting summer reading program.
June 29, 3 p.m.
Documentary Screening: Jazz
titan Louis Armstrong recorded his
classic “What a Wonderful World”
50 years ago, while living in Queens.

Shout It Out! Bingo: Join the
Friends of the Library at LeFrak City
for an aft ernoon of community bingo.
June 30, 12 p.m.
Family Movie Matinee: Enjoy a
screening of the recent hit “Black Panther,”
in which the hero T’Challa returns
home to the African nation of Wakanda
aft er the death of his father, and is drawn
into a confl ict that puts the fate of the
world at risk. July 3, 1:30 p.m.
Dodgeball Friday: Come blow off
some steam playing the playground
favorite dodgeball. Preregistration is
required; stop by the library or call
718-592-7677. July 6 and every Friday
through August, 6 p.m.
Mancala Tournament: Go ahead
to head at the ancient African game
mancala, with prizes for the winners.
July 13, 4 p.m.
Adult Coloring: Come by for an
hour of coloring accompanied by
relaxing music. Coloring sheets and
colored pencils will be provided,
though you’re free to bring your
own. July 14, 12 p.m.
Board Games for Adults: Join
other game lovers for a relaxing aft ernoon

Teen Talk and Book Swap: Students
in grade 7 and up are invited
to come learn about and discuss the
most talked about books for teens.
Participants are encouraged to bring
a gently used book to swap. Snacks
are provided. July 31 and August 31,
3 p.m.
Play chess, checkers, Scrabble, and other
board games on July 20 and August 17.
Councilman Francisco Moya dropped by the LeFrak City branch of the Queens
Library earlier this month, to read to local kids and join Queens Library president
and CEO Dennis Walcott. The special story hour was part of a schedule of
readings by City Councilmembers at Queens neighborhood libraries, to call
attention to the important role libraries pay in developing childhood literacy.
