of the season, LeFrak City
residents have something to
celebrate: the first full summer with
the campus’ brand new pool, which
will be open daily for taking a dip and
beating the heat.
The pool opened for the season
Saturday, June 23, to the delight of
many a splashing youngster, and will
be open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to
7 p.m., through Labor Day, September
3.
Located in the East Courtyard between
the Melbourne and Bali buildings,
the beautiful new pool made its
premier last summer, but was open
only for the last two weeks of the season
. Measuring 50 by 80 feet, it’s a
“zero entry” pool, with a sloped
surface leading down from the pool
deck, making for easy access, a particular
boon to young children and
seniors. Lifeguards will be on duty
at all times during pool hours; at all
other times the pool will be covered
for safety.
There are plenty of lounge chairs
for poolside relaxing, with umbrellas
and a newly covered canopy for shade.
Nearby is a picnic grove with tables
and chairs, for a meal or a snack.
There’s a comfort station where
swimmers can change, and there are
small lockers for storing phones and
other valuables. Guests need to bring
their own locks – and their own towels
as well.
Visitors to the pool must pay an
entrance fee of $10, by using a credit
card to purchase a token from a
vending machine next to the pool
entrance. It’s good for all-day access.
In order to ensure adequate space
for residents, guests are not permitted
– only LeFrak City residents may use
the pool, and key fobs will be scanned
at the pool entrance. Children 13 and
under must be accompanied by an
adult. Floats and pool toys are not
allowed in the pool, and alcoholic
beverages and glass containers are
prohibited.
And don’t forget rule No. 1: Have
fun! We’ll see you at the pool.
