on Saturday, Sept.
23, to celebrate the grand
reopening of The Courtyards at the
40-acre campus of LeFrak City. The
Courtyards are divided into three
areas — West, Center and East —
and are open to all residents.
Residents of LeFrak City will find
many recreational activities in The
Courtyards, including a seasonal
pool offering day passes, full-sized
basketball and tennis courts (and a
half-sized court for younger kids),
a multi-use turf field, a mini golf
putting green, and playgrounds and
swing sets throughout.
Gaming tables are also a highlight,
with ping-pong, foosball,
chess and checkers tables for a
competitive or friendly match.
A huge turf lawn lawn is the
centerpiece of the courtyard, complete
with a picnic gazebo and a
splash pad area for seasonal water
play.
“We’re trying to make things better
for the people who live here,”
said a representative of LeFrak
City Maintenance Services. “Residents
are very excited about the
Courtyard amenities.”
To celebrate the opening, an estimated
4,500 community members
and LeFrak City residents
came out to enjoy a day of fun.
A number of dignitaries were in
attendance at the event, including
Queens Borough President Melinda
Katz, State Senator Jose Peralta,
and State Assemblyman Jeffrion
L. Aubry. Jamie LeFrak and David
Bernhardt, the LeFrak City General
Manager, met and spoke with
people from the community.
