24 WWW.QNS.COM • LEFRAK CITY COURIER • OCTOBER 2016 Food Bazaar A Taste of Home, Right Near Yours Retailers Food Bazaar has a long history in the neighborhood, having opened its first store on 57th Avenue back in 1988 and, more recently, adding another at LeFrak City on Junction Blvd. Over the years, the chain has blossomed; it now totals over 20 stores throughout the tri-state area…but its heart remains in Corona. “LeFrak City’s residents have been an integral part of our birth and growth, holding a very special place in our company’s rich history,” said Suzanne Kuczun, spokesperson for Food Bazaar Supermarkets. The supermarket is known for its international flair, and with good reason. Food Bazaar’s late founder, Francis An, was born in Korea, migrated to Argentina as a young man, and later moved to New York. Having enjoyed Latin American cuisine during his time in Argentina, he found that New York supermarkets didn’t carry a wide enough selection of the various ingredients needed to make many of the dishes he had enjoyed abroad, and so he was inspired to fill the void. Today, Francis’ son Spencer continues his father’s legacy by offering Food Bazaar’s customers a quality shopping experience along with mainstream groceries, a custom-cutting meat department and a full-service delicatessen. However, Food Bazaar prides itself most on the unique and diverse fruits, vegetables and fresh seafood that it carries from many different countries around the world. As Suzanne says, “Food Bazaar is an adventure for the senses!” But variety and service aren’t the only things that Food Bazaar offers. The supermarket recently launched its own rewards app, where customers can earn points--which never expire--towards extra savings on future purchases. The app is free and available on Google Play and the Apple App Store and currently, new users receive 10,000 bonus points just for signing up. When you have accumulated 100,000 points, you have a choice to redeem your points or keep earning points for even bigger discounts up to $100, so the savings really add up. An especially nice feature offered on Food Bazaar’s website is its Recipes button. There are thousands of recipes available in many categories, including dietconscious menus and kidfriendly foods, as well as an entire section of recipes in Spanish. Food Bazaar is located at 58-01 Junction Blvd., just off the L.I.E. It’s open seven days a week from 7:00am until 10:30pm. Call 718-699- 5544 or visit myfoodbazaar.com for more information. Better yet, stop in and experience a Food Bazaar adventure for yourself! in photos courtesy of Food Bazaar
