Sunnyside Shines More Delicious Eats Come to Sunnyside Everyone knows that Sunnyside, Queens is home to a huge variety of diverse restaurants, bars and food markets, and a new crop of eateries reinforces this brand. Four new businesses opened in the neighborhood this summer, each bringing a new flavor to this fast-growing food enclave. The newcomers include Coffee Tossy, a gorgeous coffee shop featuring house-roasted coffee beans, gelato and chocolates; Boon by Moldova, the first Moldovan restaurant in Queens; Pelicana Chicken, a Korean fried chicken restaurant originally based in Flushing and Ida’s Nearabout, a beautiful new bar serving craft cocktails and an extensive tap selection. HERE ARE OUR PICKS FOR TRYING OUT THESE NEW SPOTS: COFFEE TOSSY: 42-14 Greenpoint Avenue (at 43rd Street) H OUR PICK: Head to the back for the gelato counter! A rotating variety of flavors are available, from passionfruit to stracciatella, perfect for an afternoon snack. Bon by Moldova: 43-45 40th Street (at Queens Boulevard) H OUR PICK: We love the polenta and the savory pies, but one standout on a recent visit is the giant Romanian donut – don’t miss out. Pelicana Chicken: 47-08 Greenpoint Avenue (at 47th Street) H OUR PICK: The nearly 50 flavors of gourmet Korean fried chicken are amazing and all, but you can’t not order the ice cream beer float to top off your delicious meal. Ida’s Nearabout: 43-13 Queens Boulevard (at 43rd Street) H OUR PICK: Sunnyside’s newest bar takes the neighborhood’s cocktail game up a notch, and what better place to enjoy your beverage than their gorgeous landscaped backyard.
