We hope you have your Memorial Day weekend plans squared away and are enjoying the extra day off. For this month’s issue, we’re getting you ready for the exciting events taking place all summer long. You’ll find a list of concerts, dance shows and more happening in western Queens parks. Socrates Sculpture Park also has a fun lineup of outdoor screenings featuring international movies and food vendors who will introduce you to the food popular in each country. We bring you the latest updates on the Astoria ferry, which is set to sail in August. Residents will be able to sail the river all year round for work and play instead of hoping on a bus or train. Astoria also welcomed a new restaurant in town called East Coast Foodies. The familyrun business dishes out fare popular in the east coast like lobster rolls and buffalo wings. All of its products are sourced in New York, Pennsylvania, Maine and Vermont. Long Island City artist Jack Howard-Potter makes intricate steel sculptures that range from three feet to 11 feet at his studio and will be presenting his work at LIC Arts Open. We give you a sneak peek into his process and his work. The latest in real estate, events and happenings around western Queens are also included. Feel free to give us a story tip at [email protected].
