Aft er sending a letter to the state Department of Transportation (DOT), state Senator Tony Avella announced that the agency plans to work on the Exit 1 ramp from the southbound Clearview Expressway to the eastbound Grand Central Parkway. Th e entrance and exit ramps for the 188th Street exit on the Grand Central will also be resurfaced. Work on the ramps — which are within the state senator’s district — will be completed by the end of 2017, according to the letter from DOT. Earlier this year, the state DOT conducted resurfacing work on the Clearview Expressway and part of the Grand Central Parkway and rehabilitated the 188th Street Bridge, which carries pedestrians over the Grand Central Parkway in Jamaica Estates. “I am thrilled to announce that these entrance and exit ramps will be repaired and repaved in the New Year,” Avella said in a letter last week. “I want to thank the New York State Department of Transportation for evaluating these areas, as well as for assuring me that this work will be completed in the coming year. These repairs are necessary for the thousands of drivers who use the aforementioned ramps on a daily basis, and I am glad to see our infrastructure receive the attention it deserves.” Photo via Google Maps The exit 1 ramp for the Grand Central Parkway heading eastbound off the Clearview Expressway.
