EMT charged with raping a
10-year-old girl in Hollis
An emergency medical technician
(EMT) for the FDNY was arraigned and
charged with the rape of a 10-year-old girl
on March 5 aft er he allegedly took advantage
of the girl while she was sleeping
during a birthday party in Hollis.
Queens District Attorney Richard
A. Brown identifi ed the defendant as
Frantz Petion, 25, of Cornell Street in
Hempstead, New York. He has been
charged with fi rst-degree rape and endangering
the welfare of a child.
“Th e defendant, who attended a birthday
celebration while off -duty, is alleged
to have turned it into a nightmare for this
10-year-old girl and her family,” Brown
said. “He will be vigorously prosecuted to
the fullest extent of the law.”
According to the District Attorney,
Petion was a guest at a birthday party on
March 3 when he allegedly entered an
attic bedroom where the girl was sleeping.
Once inside, Petion allegedly held
the girl by her neck and forcibly sexually
assaulted her. When the victim began
to yell, Petion allegedly put his hand over
her mouth and told her that if she continued
to yell he would hit her, the district
attorney said.
Th en a family friend came to the room
to check on the victim, heard a male voice
inside and forced open the locked door

Police confi rmed that the party was at a
residence on 202nd Street in Hollis.
Th e Daily News, who spoke to the suspect’s
mother at the Queens Criminal
Court, reported that Petion was drinking
and went upstairs to fi nd a bathroom.
Once upstairs, Petion heard the girl crying
and found her in the room to ask if
she was okay, his mom said.
Petion’s mother also told the Daily
News that her son was beat up by a group
of men aft er being found in the room
with the victim. Police could not confi rm
that detail.
According to police, someone at the
party reported the crime and Petion was
arrested at approximately 3:20 a.m. on
March 4. A spokesman for the FDNY
said that Petion has been suspended for
30 days without pay.
Petion is currently being held on
$500,000 bond and $400,000 cash bail and
is due back in court on March 23.

Trio steals snow plow
from LIC service station
Police are still searching for three men
who stole a snow plow that’s worth thousands
from a Long Island City service station
last month.
According to the NYPD, the men
pulled up to 50-35 Northern Blvd. in a
white Dodge Ram pickup truck at about
4:15 a.m. on Feb. 24. Th ey took a Western
Uni-mount snow plow from the location
and placed it in the back of the truck. Th e
plow is worth $4,500.
Video surveillance released by police
shows the robbery in progress.

Man arrested for knifepoint
robbery at Bayside restaurant
Discovered only blocks away from
the crime scene, a Whitestone man was
apprehended on March 1 an hour aft er
he allegedly robbed a Chinese restaurant
in Bayside at knifepoint.
Christopher Weiss, 27, of 166th Street
was arrested and charged with robbery,
criminal possession of a weapon and
criminal possession of stolen property,
according to police.
On March 1 at around 1:20 p.m., the
suspect entered the Great Wall Restaurant
at 200th Street and 32nd Avenue, brandished
a knife and demanded an employee
open the cash register. Weiss grabbed
$180 in cash and fl ed the scene in a car.
However, about an hour later, offi cers
from the 111th Precinct observed Weiss
in his vehicle on 28th Avenue and 202
Street. Aft er a car stop, they identifi ed
him as the perpetrator and arrested him
at the scene.
Th ere were no reported injuries in the
incident, law enforcement sources noted.

Astoria & Long Island City
Bicyclist wanted for robbing
a senior woman in Astoria
Police have released video footage of a
bike-riding thief who attacked a 92-yearold
woman in Astoria on the night of
Saturday, March 3.
Law enforcement sources said the incident
occurred at 7:30 p.m. on March 3 as
the victim walked along 46th Street near
30th Avenue.
According to authorities, the unidentifi
ed male perpetrator rode up to the
woman from behind and forcibly grabbed
her purse off her arm. Th is caused the
woman to fall to the ground, busting her
nose in the process. Th e crook pedaled
away from the scene.
Offi cers from the 114th Precinct and
EMS units responded to the scene.
Paramedics brought the woman to Mount
Sinai Hospital, where she was treated for a
nose laceration as well as pain to her left
shoulder and arm.

Shots fi red in Astoria park,
cops looking for culprit
Detectives are still looking for a man
who fi red three shots into Dutch Kills
Playground just two days aft er cops found
a dead baby in a trash can near the same
location.
According to police, at about 12:40 p.m.
on Feb. 19, the suspect discharged his
gun three times within the park, which
is located at 36th Avenue and Crescent
Street on the border of Astoria and Long
Island City.
Offi cers from the 114th Precinct
responded to the incident. No injuries
were reported.
Police described the suspect as a black
man, approximately 20 years old, standing
6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds.
Law enforcement sources say there is
no known connection to the incident and
the Feb. 17 discovery of the dead infant
found near Dutch Kills Playground.
