Along with its 80-plus vendors with the best in food, sweets, drinks, vintage, art and handcrafted items, LIC Flea will be hosting two great events for book lovers. On Saturday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., LIC Flea is hosting the brandnew Queens Mobile Library. Visitors can browse the offerings and check out books right on the spot, then grab some grub and a brew and catch up on some reading at the All-Queens Beer Garden. On Sunday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., LIC Flea is hosting Grow NYC’s Stop ‘N’ Swap where visitors can bring their books in good condition to donate to the swap. Visitors will also be welcome to take as many books as they can carry. You do not need to bring a book to take a book. Give. Get. Eddie Cadiz of Artist Unlimited is a longtime resident of Long Island City and his work has been exhibited internationally, as well as here in the States. He is well known as a multimedia visual artist and he contributes to the arts in the community by curating the gallery space at the Long Island City branch of the Queens Library. Currently, some of his work is on display at Astoria Wines and Spirits on Broadway. What’s the Dillaz What’s the Dillaz is an artisanal quesadilla shop runned by LIC natives Jesse Vasquez and Marilyn Hernandez. They are changing the way you think about quesadillas, as well as bringing you their twist on the traditional ones! They are also offering house-made creams and pico de gallo for their traditional ‘dillaz. Their goal is to make your taste buds explode with all the flavors put into making these awesome ‘dillaz. Stay tuned to see what creative ‘dillaz we will present. Grandpa Val’s BBQ and Catering/Big Johns BBQ Tacos Grandpa Val’s BBQ and Catering/Big Johns BBQ Tacos is a BBQ catering company that specializes in Southern-style BBQ with its own New York twist. That is where Big Johns BBQ tacos comes in. Pit-Master John Zervoulakos has created this menu just for the LIC Flea. They smoke all of their meats on their 12-foot, 100 percent wood-fueled smoker they call Grandma Paula because that is what Grandpa Val would have wanted. K.O.B. Taco: Smoked brisket taco with siracha cream sauce and pickled red onion. Lamb Taco: Smoked lamb with tsasiki sauce and diced Greek salad. Pork Taco: Smoked pork with classic fixins BBQ sauce and cole slaw. All of our meats are slow-smoked and all of our toppings and sauces are homemade.
