The Queens Council on the Arts was established in 1966 by various leaders of the cultural community under the guidance of Jeanne Dale Katz, whose daughter, Melinda Katz, is the current borough president. The council has grown into a wide-ranging arts service organization providing grants, professional development, and education services, playing a key role in directing city, state, federal, and private funds to emerging artists and organizations. Inside scoop: The council organizes the Queens Art Express, a huge block party in June that mixes dance, film, literature, music, performance, theater, and visual arts. Zoescope Studio Zoescope Studio provides art for galleries and site-specific commissioned art; open and limited edition pieces for small to large corporations, retail, real estate developers, healthcare facilities, and the hospitality industry. In addition, Zoescope builds and nurtures community relations and brings the arts to the public by partnering with like-minded and alternative spaces to present the work of emerging and established local artists. Inside scoop: The studio has produced events and launched marketing campaigns for organizations such as Queens World Film Festival, LIC Arts Open, The Diego Salazar Art Gallery, and Queens Council on the Arts.
