The group was formerly known as the North Shore- LIJ Medical Group. Northwell Health Physician Partners is the country’s seventh-largest multispeciality group, with over 100 medical and surgical specialties. The group serves hundreds of thousands of patients. About half of the 2,500 doctors provide care through outpatient physician practices throughout the New York metropolitan area, while the rest are based in the health system’s 21 hospitals. “Our new name refl ects our dedication to improve the health and wellness of our patients and community, which we accomplish by partnering with our patients, our colleagues and our organization as a whole,” said Dr. Ira Nash, a practicing cardiologist and senior vice president and executive director of Northwell Health Physician Partners. Northwell has made a number of recent changes to highlight their patientcentric philosophy. In August, the group began posting public online patient reviews of doctors. It was the fi rst large medical group in the New York area to do so. These reviews offer real feedback from actual, verifi ed patients on nearly 800 physicians. “We are using transparency as an innovative approach to continuously improving as we strive to exceed our patients’ expectations,” said Dr. Nash.
