16 APRIL 20, 2017 RIDGEWOOD TIMES WWW.QNS.COM Man admits to helping to rob & shoot Knick in Maspeth BY EMILY DAVENPORT [email protected] @RIDGEWOODTIMES A Brooklyn man connected to the robbery of New York Knicks player Cleanthony Early nearby a Maspeth strip club in 2015 pleaded guilty to federal charges earlier this week, according to court reports. Delvon Dowling, 23, entered a guilty plea to being an accessory to an armed robbery aft er the fact. Dowling faces up to 10 years in prison. On Dec. 30, 2015, Early, 26, and his girlfriend were robbed at gunpoint after leaving in an Uber from Maspeth’s CityScapes Gentlemen’s Club on 58th Street near 55th Drive. Four suspects, including Dowling, followed Early’s Uber in three cars from the club to the corner of Tyler and Maurice avenues. The suspect’s cars surrounded the Uber and the crooks confronted Early while inside the car, demanding his property. Early complied, but one of the suspects shot Early in the kneecap before fl eeing with the other suspects. Dowling was picked up and arrested at his home in Brooklyn for unrelated charges on April 1, 2016. According to court reports, Dowling waived his Miranda rights and admitted to his involvement in the robbery. Dowling said that the group conspired to commit robbery that evening. Dowling also admitted that he was aware that his co-conspirators had fi rearms during the robbery, during which Dowling said he was waiting near one of the vehicles. Following the robbery, Dowling sold two cell phones that were obtained during the robbery for $40 each.
