10 MAY 18, 2017 RIDGEWOOD TIMES WWW.QNS.COM POLICE BEAT Compiled by Emily Davenport and Robert Pozarycki 106TH PRECINCT SOUTH QUEENS DUO SOUGHT FOR VIOLENT BOWLING ALLEY ASSAULT Police are looking for two unknown men who assaulted two employees while being thrown out of an Ozone Park bowling alley. At approximately 1:39 a.m. on April 9, two unknown individuals were being escorted out of Bowl 360, located at 98-18 Rockaway Blvd., by two male employees (ages 30 and 44) when the individuals started an altercation with the employees. During the altercation, one individual hit the 44-year-old employee in the head with a bottle and the other individual hit the 30-year-old employee in the head with an ice scraper. Following the incident, the suspects fl ed westbound on Rockaway Avenue. The victims suff ered lacerations to their heads and were transported to Jamaica Hospital in fair condition. One was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black and gray sweater, a black shirt and dark colored pants while the second was last seen wearing a blue bandanna, a black hooded sweater with the words “New York” across its chest and blue jeans. 110TH PRECINCT CORONA & ELMHURST MAN SOUGHT FOR BANK HEISTS NEAR QUEENS CENTER A busy robber attempted to rob two banks near the Queens Center mall in Elmhurst on Monday aft ernoon, then visited the shopping center aft er the capers, police said. The NYPD released images captured by Queens Center security cameras of the suspect shortly aft er he made robbery attempts at the Apple Bank at 91- 31 Queens Blvd. and the Chase bank at 89-21 Queens Blvd. on May 15. Queens Center is located at 90-15 Queens Blvd., roughly a block away from both banks. Upon further investigation, police have linked the suspect to an active bank robbery pattern involving three branches in Manhattan between March 13 and May 11. Police described the bank robber as a white man believed to be 40 years of age standing 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds with a medium build, clean shaven and light eyes. Law enforcement sources said the crook fi rst hit the Apple Bank in Elmhurst at 1:55 p.m. on May 15; he approached the teller and verbally announced the robbery, then provided a demand note. Aft er repeated refusals by the teller, the suspect fl ed the scene. Authorities said the bandit then walked into the Chase bank at 2 p.m., approached a teller and handed over a demand note. This time, the employee complied with the request and provided an undetermined amount of cash to the crook, who fl ed the scene northbound on Queens Boulevard. Both attempted heists were reported to the 110th Precinct; there were no injuries.
