Spanarkel Dolores St. Louis William Steinmann A Message From Mr. Michael Michel—President of Christ the King On behalf of our community, our school, our students and their families, I would like to take this time to extend heartfelt congratulations and thank-you to the “Founders” of Christ the King High School as an independent, Catholic High School. Forty years have gone by and without the dedication and perseverance of the “founders” we would not have had the opportunity and privilege to serve our community for all these years. There are many “founders” to which we are grateful. First and foremost, the group of parents who spearheaded the cause to reopen Christ the King High School as an independent, Catholic High school are to be commended. Were it not for them, their determination, their drive and their loyalty to their children, their community and their Church we would not be celebrating this monumental anniversary. We are also most appreciative to those “founders” who were students at Christ the King High School at the time. They came to school one day and there were pad locks on the doors! Their love for “their” school caused them to take a stand. They had a “sit-in” and many of them slept on the schools grounds. Some of these people of whom I speak currently teach at Christ the King and serve on the Board of Trustees. Yes, they protested; they protested peacefully for a cause in which they believed. Because of these students, 15,000 students following them have graduated and gone on to become successful doctors, lawyers, teachers, members of the U.S. Military, and other civil service men and women. We are thankful to the parents, community leaders and students who over the past 40 years have continued to have faith in the mission of Christ the King High School with its magnificent campus housing a thriving Day Care, Continuing Education Program and Middle Village Preparatory Charter School. The Christ the King Campus provides residents of our community with hundreds of job opportunities, a place to grow, learn, and worship. None of this would be possible without God who has graced all our “founders” with endurance, fortitude and courage so that this day could come to fruition.
