SATURDAY, FEB. 11 5Percussia Concert- Prepare yourself for a night of eclectic modern classical music that pays homage to the diversity of Queens. The Jackson Heights-based chamber music ensemble Percussia will perform a concert showcasing two world premiere pieces by Queens-based composers Carlo Nicolau and Quentin Chiappetta on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Queens Museum. Nicolau’s piece entitled “Immigrant Dreams” depicts the story of the voyage that Mexican and Central American immigrants must face when leaving their torn apart countries in order to fulfill the “immigrant dream” in New York. Chiappetta’s piece entitled “International Express” pays tribute to the famous No. 7 subway train, known as “the International Express,” and its journey through Queens.
