Angela Matua Schedule for Astoria ferry service posted too soon, will likely change BY ANGELA MATUA [email protected] @AngelaMatua Th e city released the schedule for the new Astoria NYC Ferry service on April  14, but on April 18, the schedule was abruptly removed from the Economic Development Corporation’s (EDC) website. Several media outlets, including QNS, reported about the timetable and the Aug. 1 launch of the service. But according to Stephanie Baez, vice president of public aff airs at EDC, Hornblower mistakenly posted the draft timetable online before it was fi nalized. Th e new schedule and launch date will be released sometime in mid-July, she said, and the timetable will likely change. Th e fi rst ferry was scheduled to leave at 6:30 a.m. and on weekdays, the last ferry would have departed at 8:30 p.m., according to the previous schedule. Th e ferry was also scheduled to take 30 trips on weekdays and 23 on weekends. Once it is launched in August, the ferry will stop at Roosevelt Island, Long Island City, East 34th Street and Wall Street/Pier 11. In total, it will take 38 minutes to get from Hallets Cove to Wall Street. Each ride will cost $2.75 and the ferries will have Wi-Fi, heated decks and bike storage and room for 150 passengers. Th e new Long Island City stop at Gantry State Plaza Park will also be incorporated into the route. On May 1, the Rockaway Park route will launch, followed by the South Brooklyn Route on June 1. The schedule for the Astoria ferry route has been released.
