Masonry is in the blood of this life-long Whitestone resident Arthur DiBiase, who has over 40 years of experience under his belt, said that he comes from a long line of master masons. In fact, DiBiase said, a family member was able to trace masonry in the family bloodline back to 1634. His love for the craft can be traced back to his great-grandfather, who came to the United States from Italy in 1901. He was responsible for much of the st one work at the Civil War-era Fort Totten in Bayside, DiBiase said, and his work still stands today. “I knew when I was eight years old I wanted to be a cement mason, like my dad,” DiBiase continued. Arthur DeBiase began as an apprentice in the cement mason’s union, Local 780, in New York City before opening and operating his own business full time. Today, he and his team work on driveways, patios, stoops, sidewalks, and basement waterproofi ng throughout Queens, as well as Manhattan and Nassau County. “I have highly qualifi ed people that I personally train myself,” DiBiase said. “Th e work is always superior. With the housing boom, people’s properties values have gone up, so they’re willing to spend money to keep their houses looking good.” Th e team oft en does “do-over jobs,” he continued, where residents hire the cheapest guy they can fi nd, and the work comes out poorly because they have to cut a corner to make a profi t. With DiBiase, you get the job done right the fi rst time.
