Open House!
Dating back 168 years, when our nation was
a mere 72 years old, and our pre-Civil War union
boasted only 30 states, the residents of New York
City would amble past the stately and newlyerected
Brooklyn Borough Hall on Joralemon
Street, for the most part unaware of the bustling
goings on transpiring within its hallowed halls,
and the trailblazing paths its future inhabitants
— a venerable lineage of Brooklyn’s mayors and
borough presidents — would forge. Fast forward
to 2016, and Brooklyn Borough President Eric L.
Adams vowed to change all that.
In an e ort to give Brooklynites an opportunity
to meet with him, Deputy Brooklyn Borough
President Diana Reyna, and members of his
team, Borough President Adams hosted a fi rstof
its-kind open house at Brooklyn Borough Hall
on Saturday, April 16th. The event gave residents
a chance to not only meet with and snap selfi es
with Borough President Adams, but it allowed
visitors to explore the historic edifi ce — the
People’s House — to learn about how the O ce of
the Brooklyn Borough President helped to sculpt
present-day Brooklyn as we know it, and how
Borough President Adams, through a number
of initiatives, is working toward advancing the
Brooklyn of the future.
