The Botanic Garden’s annual cherry
blossom festival celebrates traditional
and modern Japanese culture with
music, fashion, dance, and food. The
cosplay parade is a particular highlight
for anime-loving fans.

Artisanal Food Festival

Viking Festival
Owl’s Head Park (68 Colonial Rd. between
68th and Senator streets in Bay Ridge, May

This festival celebrating the area’s
Scandinavian heritage will transform
the park into a viking village, complete
with a replica Viking longboat. Quake
in fear as re-enactors demonstrate
their combat skills, and thrill to
performances from Irish dancers and
Celtic bagpipe bands!
Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair

DanceAfrica Festival

The country’s largest celebration of
African and diaspora dance will focus
on the musical movement traditions
of Rwanda this year. In addition to the
ticketed performances, the weekendlong
festival also features community
dance classes, fi lm screenings, an art
exhibit, and the DanceAfrica Outdoor
Bazaar, a giant market for African,
African-American, and Caribbean arts,
crafts, and food.
Brooklyn’s 152nd Memorial
Day Parade
Parade starts at Third Avenue and 78th
Street in Bay Ridge, marches along Third
Avenue to Marine Avenue, turns towards
Fourth Avenue, and ends at John Paul
Jones Park at Fourth Avenue and 101st

The country’s oldest Memorial Parade
brings together veterans, bands, civic
groups, motorcycle clubs, and schools to
honor those who have given their lives
in service of their country.
