AIRPORT VOICE, APRIL 2019 25
BY JESSICA MILITELLO
Throughout Verdia Noel’s career, she has been
led toward many career opportunities by her love
of working with people and trying to make a difference.
In her current role as the director of business
development for the Council for Airport Opportunity,
Noel is able to reach out to the community on
a regular basis, spreading the mission of the organization
she works for.
Much of Noel’s professional and personal interests
include her extensive involvement in programs
such as the JFK Rotary Club, the Queens Economic
Development Corporation, where she is a board
member, to many more community-based efforts
where she provides her time. In Noel’s current role
as the director of business development, her daily
operations revolve around fulfilling CAO’s mission
of assessing employment needs within communities
of New York and New Jersey, a role that she
earned after 35 years in the aviation industry.
For Noel, her enjoyment of working in the aviation
industry certainly plays a role in being able to
get others on board.
“I love the industry and its rich history; that’s
what drew me in,” said Noel. “I wanted to know
more when I heard about the hiring that was going
on back then. It’s reminiscent of what’s happening
now, new jobs, new opportunities, and new people.”
Noel first became involved in the aviation industry
in 1984 when she applied for a position as
a customer service representative. She was hired
through the Council for Airport Opportunity.
Throughout the years she worked at both John F.
Kennedy airport and LaGuardia airport, ranging
in different roles from supervisor, manager roles,
and area director, before eventually progressing
up to her current role as director of business development.
Noel earned her bachelor’s degree in management
from St. Francis college and continues to
earn higher roles throughout her career.
Throughout Noel’s successful career, her willingness
to take on new responsibilities and continually
reach out to the community has been unyielding.
“I enjoy working with people, and I think I’ve
always had a gift of connecting with people,” said
Noel. “I know I want to work to make a difference.”
“...your source for qualifi ed employees.”
Congratulations to Verdia Noel
And to the Women of CAO for Their Dedicated
Service and Support to Our Aviation Partners
And the Airport Communities.
