JetBlue introduces redevelopment partners
Team meets potential contracting firms
AIRPORT VOICE, MAY 2019 5
BY JEFF YAPALATER
JetBlue with its investment
partners have formed
the JFK Millennium Partners
( JetBlue, Vantage Airport
Group, RXR) to structure
the development of terminals
6.7 and integrate into the current
Terminal 5 of JetBlue as
part of the JFK Redevelopment
plan. To this end they
had an open house in Jamaica.
Queens for a meet and
greet with many of the potential
contractors looking to
win bids and help in the construction,
and later, the overall
workforce needs of the
new terminal. The emphasis
of diversity, inclusion and
a minimum of 30% MWBE
contracts awards cleary attracted
the Queens community
to this event.
The meeting hall was
crammed with company representatives
sipping wine,
snacking on treats and energetically
passing around
business cards. They were
all networking with JetBlue
project management and
with the potential construction
companies and to learn
of upcoming RFPs and early
opportunities.
The presentations were
moderated by Mark O’Luck
of Spectrum with an introduction
by Justin Ginsburgh
Director of JFK Infrastructure
followed by overall
strategies and RFP requirements
given by the Suzette
Bather-Taylor of the Port
Authority, Stephen Martin
of the JFK Millennium Partners,
Paul Blue of Paslay
Management Group, Jeff
Sueck of the Palsay Group.
JetBlue wanted to make it
clear this is still in the beginning
of the RFP proicess
and that there is still time
for MWBE and small businesses
to become certified
by the Port Authority and
State of NY for JFK Redevelopment
projects.
This networking was
the first major public outreach
by the JFK Millennium
Partners group and
will be followed by similar
events that will level the
playing field for all sized
companies to compete in
the program.

The ARK Pet Oasis and JFK
Terminal 4 teamed up to raise
awareness on humane animal
and pet travel with a pop-up location
inside JFK Terminal 4 on National
Pet Day. The animal experts
of The ARK along with T4 representatives
were on hand to demonstrate
best practices for traveling
and safeguarding a pet when
hitting the friendly skies. Travelers
and staff had a chance to see
a “Lassie” as well as cuddle with
one of the huggable facility dogs.
ARK Pet Oasis serves as a central
resource available 24/7, servicing
the needs and promoting
the welfare of companion animals
traveling as cargo. ARK Pet Oasis
accepts all domestic and international
in-transit animals traveling
through JFK, serving as a
rest stop to provide relief in between
flights or during U.S. Customs
clearance. Since opening,
ARK Pet Oasis has welcomed a
wide range of animals including
a Swiss Bernese Mountain puppy
to an Eclectus parrot, an anteater,
pot-bellied big, sloth and much
more!
JFK Terminal 4 is one of the
most active air terminals in the
NY area, serving 34 international
and domestic airlines with an annual
passenger volume of more
than 21 million travelers, accounting
for one-third of all traffic at
JFK. In 2016, Terminal 4 launched
JFK Airport’s first indoor, postsecurity
pet relief area, where
passengers can relieve their guide
and service dogs, emotional support
animals and other traveling
pets beyond the security checkpoint.
There is even a small fake
fire hydrant in the pet relief area
so dogs can feel at home!
JFK has also been listed as
the most pet-friendly airports in
the U.S., according to Upgraded-
Points.com.
