NEW YORK SCHOOLS NAMED
‘BEST VALUE COLLEGES’
by Princeton Review
Barnard College
Barnard is the most sought-after liberal
arts college for women in America. With
its student body of just over 2,500 and its
location in uptown Manhattan, Barnard
off ers a close-knit campus community
with thousands of internship and job
opportunities close by. While its tuition
of more than $50,000 is certainly not
considered aff ordable, the average freshman
scholarship package is more than $41,000.
That’s because Barnard is highly selective
with a 15 percent acceptance rate and average
4.00 GPA for incoming freshmen. What truly
gives Barnard a high return on investment,
however, is a four-year graduation rate of
87 percent and an median starting salary of
$56,800 for graduates.

Each year, the Princeton Review compiles a list of colleges and universities around the U.S. that can give
you the most bang for your buck. The best value colleges list is based on survey data from students and
institutions that evaluates academic rigor, aff ordability and career outcomes for graduates, among other
factors. New York City is home to eight schools that made the 2019 version of the list. Whether you’re a high
school senior searching for your dream college, or a transfer student looking for a school that better suits
your needs, the best value colleges list is a great place to start.
