3. Avoid Twitter wars — We’ve all been
there. Twitter is an easy place to get into
online fights. How awful is it to peck away
at your phone or keyboard in anger to try to
one-up someone’s political point or sports
point or any disagreement! It is a no-win
situation where you won’t feel good in the
end. The best thing to do is not engage.
That’s easier said than done, I know, but
it’s likely more stress in your life that you
don’t need.
4. If you’re being cyber bullied, get help
— It’s difficult being a teen in 2018. Once
upon a time, the school day and tough
times typically ended at 3 p.m. However,
today, with different online outlets, if
you’ve been bullied, it can continue 24/7.
Parents don’t typically understand the
damage that can be done at any given
moment. You can be laughing at dinner and
receive a notification in which someone
has shamed you. Immediately go to your
folks, a counselor, a teacher, someone you
trust and notify them immediately.
5. Avoid ex-girlfriend/boyfriend’s pages
— This is awfully painful. You need to show
some willpower. If you’ve broken up and
are in pain over it, you need to disconnect
from that person. That means no viewing
profiles. It will only bring sadness and
prolong your eventual road to recovery.
6. Leave work at work (when you can)
— Some jobs make it harder than others
but it’s important to leave work behind
when home and having dinner, spending
time with family and friends. This may be
most relevant for older folks, but it goes for
school work too.
7. Put the phone away at bed — Read.
Watch TV. Play games. You’ve been with
your phone enough.
8. Avoid personal rants — It’s totally
fine to express your feelings. This has been
going on since journals. However, you don’t
want to lash out to your public after a really
bad day. Sure, you want to vent but try to
do it in private with close friends. This is
the one of the easiest issues but also the
most problematic. Stay level-headed in
your posts and think deeply before posting
something that makes a statement.
Many lives have been affected negatively
because of rants.
