Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofi
t organization, is an International, competitive
festival. BFF mission is to provide a public forum
in Brooklyn in order to advance public interest in
fi lms and the independent production of fi lms.
To draw worldwide attention to Brooklyn as a
center for cinema. To encourage the rights of all
Brooklyn residents to access and experience the
power of independent fi lmmaking, and to promote
artistic excellence and the creative freedom of
artists without censure. BFF, inc. is a not-for-profi t
organization. Every year the Brooklyn Film Festival
donates hundreds of complementary tickets to
Brooklyn Schools and off ers to Students & Senior
Citizens discounted tickets. One of BFF’s oldest
programs, KidsFilmFest, an event for and by young
fi lmmakers and fi lm buff s, this year held at Made
in NY Media Center by IFP, will be completely free
of charge for all the kids and teens attending.

The mission of Brooklyn Center for the Performing
Arts is to present outstanding arts and arts
education programs, refl ective of Brooklyn’s

people to the 2,400 seat Walt Whitman Theatre,

Founded in 1970 by Marie Cantoni and Nicholas
Tierno, Regina Opera began as a small group of
dedicated singers who gave opera recitals, with
piano accompaniment, in a tiny auditorium at
the Regina Pacis-St. Rosalia Parish Youth Center
in Borough Park/Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. The
following year, they produced an abridged staged
version of La Traviata with piano accompaniment.
In 1976, they began performing on the larger
stage at Regina Hall (the auditorium of Regina
Pacis School), and acquired an orchestra in
1982. In 2008, a grant enabled them to begin
providing supertitles. And in 2012, they moved
to a wonderful new home, Our Lady of Perpetual
Help School auditorium, whose more professional
stage facilities and comfortable audience amenities
inaugurated a great new era in Regina Opera’s
history.

Former Executive Producer Harvey Lichtenstein
discovered what would become the Harvey
Theater when looking for a new kind of venue
for Peter Brook’s eight-hour production of The
Mahabharata. The award- winning renovation that
followed beautifully preserved the deconstructed
feels of the space, resulting in a striking theater
with the ambience of a timeless ruin. The Harvey
has since served as the unique setting for major
stage and broadcast productions.
