Talk about life-changing lessons!
Coney Islanders on the hunt for a job can prepare
for the interview process at a series of upcoming
workshops in the People’s Playground. The
three free events, co-sponsored by local leaders
with the Alliance for Coney Island and Kingsborough
Community College, will feature mock interviews
and resume-writing tips in order to help attendees
get and keep jobs, according to the college’s
director of workforce development.
“Offering job-readiness workshops that prepare
the residents of Coney Island for the workforce and
sustainable employment is such an integral part
of the services we provide,” said Christine Zagari-
LoPorto.
Coney residents ages 18 and older can attend
the workshops, which hosts will stage on March 28
from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Coney Island Library,
and on April 2 and 9 from 6 to 8:30 pm at the
Carey Gardens Community Center.
Interested job-seekers should bring a resume if
they have one, according to an Alliance rep, who
said the workshops will prepare locals to sell themselves
at a recruitment fair next month, when employers
will be hiring for seasonal, mostly parttime
positions in the amusement district .
