MAN SNATCHES WOMAN'S PURSE: A 54-year-old woman was attacked and robbed by a man while walking on 87th Street between Third and Fourth Avenues on Sunday, January 22 at around 8 p.m. Cops say the woman was walking home when the crook, who was behind her and covering his face with a hat and jacket, grabbed her purse before fleeing westbound on 87th Street to Third Avenue on foot. CASH IN CAR STOLEN: An unknown perp has broken into a woman’s car and stole $1,000 in cash, along with POLICE BEAT Compiled by Jaime DeJesus electronics and credit cards. The 27-year-old victim parked her car on 76th Street between Ridge Boulevard and Third Avenue on Sunday, January 22 at around 9:30 p.m. When she returned the following day at 8:17 a.m., she noticed several of her items, including iPods and laptops, were missing. VACATION OVER: A 34-year-old woman returned from her vacation to find that her apartment had been broken into and that $5,125 worth of jewelry has been stolen. Between Monday, January 23 at around 4:30 a.m. and Thursday, January 26 at 8:45 p.m., the burglar broke into the apartment on Ridge Boulevard between Shore Road and Marine Avenue and stole several Tiffany rings, a Movado watch and earrings. COPS ARREST KNIFE-WIELDING MAN: Cops arrested a 45-year-old man for criminal possession of a weapon near school grounds at Seventh Avenue and 17th Street on Wednesday, January 25 at around 2:25 p.m. Cops say a police officer noticed that the man had a switchblade. Police say he was also in possession of a controlled substance near school grounds with intent to sell. BURGLAR WALKS AWAY WITH 3K: An apartment on Sixth Avenue and 40th Street belonging to a 27-yearold man and 25-year-old woman was burglarized on Saturday, January 28 between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Cops say the crook broke into the home and stole $3,000 and jewelry. The victims claim they had a spare set of keys on the door frame to the apartment which was no longer there when they returned. 72 PRECINCT BLOTTER POLICE SEEK SUNSET SHOOTERS Cops are looking for five suspects in a shooting resulting from a dispute that began inside a Sunset Park elevator on Friday, January 13. According to the NYPD, at approximately 10:15 p.m., the five got into an argument with a 25-year-old man in the elevator inside 274 36th Street in the 72nd Precinct. Once outside, the victim was shot once in the right foot before the assailants, all black men, fled the scene. The victim was treated at NYU Lutheran Medical Center and released. No other injuries have been reported as a result of the altercation. The surveillance photos of the suspects were obtained from in front of 274 36th Street. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crimestoppers website at www. nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. -- Helen Klein MORE DETAILS EMERGE ABOUT RIDGE CARJACKING BY HELEN KLEIN [email protected] Cops have released more details about the recent carjacking at Senator Street and Fifth Avenue in Bay Ridge, in the 68th Precinct, which they are connecting to an earlier incident on the border of Victorian Flatbush. The Bay Ridge incident occurred on Monday, January 16, when a 62-year-old local businessman was victimized after a pair of vans blocked his 2013 Chevy in at about 9:15 a.m. According to the police, first a person in a light colored minivan drove in front of the victim’s car to stop him from passing. Then, a second white van pulled up behind the victim’s car. At this point, cops say, the victim was forcibly removed from his car by a person who came up to his vehicle on foot, and who threw him to the ground before taking off in the victim’s car, accompanied by the two vehicles that had blocked the victim’s way. While the victim’s car was recovered 12 blocks away, $9,000 in checks and more than $12,000 in cash were missing. Cops said at the time that the incident did not appear to be a random act as the victim had also been robbed about two months earlier. In the incident that took place at Coney Island Avenue and Slocum Place, in the 70th Precinct, on Monday, November 28 at about 6:05 a.m., the 62-year-old victim was held up by two men as he was about to get into his car. Cops say that one of the assailants held a gun to the victim’s head and demanded his money, while the other took keys, a cell phone, $5,000 in cash and $40,000 in checks from the victim’s van. The duo then got into an SUV being driven by a third person and took off. One of the assailants is described as a black man between 25 and 35 years of age. The second assailant is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 5’6” tall, in his 20s. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater. A light colored Honda Odyssey and a white Ford Passenger van are being sought.
