Utilizing its photographic and
research collections, The Bronx
County Historical Society has installed
its exhibition, A History of The
Bronx Latino, at the Museum of Bronx
History. Latinos are among the largest
and fastest-growing ethnic groups
in the borough since the mid-20th century.
Although this statistic defi nes
the Latino population in the Bronx today,
there is historical data on early
19th century Bronx Latinos to be more
fully explored.
This represents the latest offering
in our ongoing series, The Bronx
Latino History Project. To document
and share the history and heritage of
Bronx Latinos, the Bronx County Historical
Society established The Bronx
Latino History Project 10 years ago.
The program encompasses historical
research, primary source collection,
exhibition and related programming
as well as production of ongoing bilingual
translations of our museum tours
and programs.
The Museum of Bronx History is
conveniently located in north-central
Bronx near Montefi ore Medical Center,
and is open Saturdays from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
Group tours available during the week
and on weekends by appointment,
booked through the Education Department.
Admission is $5 for the general
public and $3 for children, seniors, and
