CO-NAMING CEREMONY
Community and law enforcement members joined in celebrating a street co-naming honoring
the late 49th Precinct police offi cer Manny Vargas, Jr. on Saturday, March 2 in front
of the 49th Precinct’s station house at 2121 Eastchester Road. Vargas Jr. passed away on
November 1, 2018 from a rare type of brain cancer linked to exposure to toxins from working
near the original World Trade Center after September 11, 2001.
