HUNTS POINT METRO OPTICS REOPENS
In honor of Small Business Saturday, Metro Optics’ Hunts Point offi ce celebrated its grand
reopening on Saturday, November 24 following its prolonged closure due to a fi re in November
2016.

MP REALTY OPENS IN THROGGS NECK
The Throggs Neck Merchants Association joined Morris Park Realty of Throggs Neck in
commemorating the real estate’s grand opening on Thursday, November 15 at 769 Vincent
Avenue.

M.S. 80 STUDENTS DEBATE GENTRIFICATION
After M.S. 80 students studied the NYS Social Studies Scope and Sequence UNIT 1: Native
Americans, Early Encounters and Colonial Development on Wednesday, November 21, they debated
whether gentrifi cation is an urban form of colonization, if gentrifi cation is progress or
destruction and if people question morality when engaging in acquiring wealth and power.

GJONAJ CELEBRATES SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
On Small Business Saturday, Councilman Mark Gjonaj toured and supported the merchants
and businesses in the Third Avenue Business Improvement District with Commissioner Greg
Bishop; Borough President Diaz, Jr, Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez and others, and continued
the tour in his District visiting among others Big Deal Supermarket, Ice House Cafe and
many more.
Gjonaj joined many in celebrating local businesses throughout the borough.
