Lehman Center for the Performing
Arts and Goya Foods celebrates
Roberto Roena‘S more than 55 years as
a Salsa artist when he returns to Lehman
Center Y Su Apollo Sound on Saturday,
January 26, at 8 p.m. The performance
will include special guests and
original singers Sammy González, Tito
Cruz, and Carlos Santos, and the legendary
master timbalero Endel Dueño.

This concert continues the completion
of the fi rst phase of renovations
at Lehman Center for the Performing
Arts. Concert goers will fi nd that the
lobbies have been upgraded for ADA
compliance with new ramps and carpeting,
and the interior of the theater
will have new seating, carpeted aisles,
and fi nished fl ooring as well.
The $15.4 million refurbishment of
the Center, which is expected to be completed
by mid-2019, will also include
5,400 square feet of enlarged space, with
a new main entrance and a redesigned
box offi ce, plus new administration offi
ces and restroom facilities on the fi rst
and mezzanine fl oors, and an elevator.
The Center seats 2,278 people in the concert
hall and is the largest of its kind in
the borough.
Funding for the project is being provided
by the Offi ce of the Governor, the
New York State Legislature, the Bronx
delegation of the New York City Council,
and the Offi ce of the Bronx Borough
President. Additional funding is being
raised with a seat naming initiative,
which allows community members to
make a personal connection with one of
New York City’s most important not-forprofi
t entertainment venues.

$65, $55, $50, and can be purchased by

Station: Turtles and groundhogs
and bats, oh my! Get to know your local
hibernators through sleepy tales of the
season, and fashion your own dreamy
hibernator mask to parade around in.
Choose from a bear, toad or groundhog,
or draw inspiration from your favorite
hibernating animal to design your own
wearable mask. PJs are welcome! Hibernators

Not to Sleep: Winter Survival Strategies
Nature Presentation: Discover the
amazing, sometimes strange, adaptations
that allow native amphibians, reptiles,
mammals and birds to survive
harsh New York winters. Some remain
awake and active, others migrate south
or enter a state of suspended animation.
Educators from Volunteers for Wildlife
and their live animal-ambassadors
reveal these survival strategies. Ages
eight and older welcome with an adult.

Ball: Like the groundhog, many animals
emerge from their dens to determine
how long the deep, dark days of
winter will last. They visit with friends
and dance the afternoon away, getting
good and tired. Don your PJs, jewels
and animal mask to become your favorite
hibernator and learn to waltz in
majestic Armor Hall with musicians
Jody Kruskal and Friends. Hibernators

Drop-In Sunday: Artists in the
Winter Workspace program share their
studio practice with visitors. Free with
