TRIBORO CENTER’S EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TEAM BY ARLENE GRAUER
As a law, it is protocol that each health care institution must have an emergency preparedness team
and plan, as made mandatory by the NYS Department of Health. Triboro Center and NYS DOH answered
this call by assembling an internal emergency team called the ‘Key Emergency Management Team’ on
Wednesday, April 10. Each individual was assigned to various duties and responsibilities based upon
their expertise and position at the institution, such as the Recreation Director’s job in emergency is the
‘Public Information Offi ce’, one who relates information via traditional and social media.
(Above) The team discussed scenarios such as a particular criminal activity, common disasters or
weather-related disaster and how to properly react to each.

BRONX TIMES REPORTER, A BTR PRIL 19-25, 2019 71
We hope that everyone who
was able to attend our fi rst
2019 meeting enjoyed themselves
at the reception and
meeting. We had a number of
guest speakers, including representatives
from the offi ces
of Councilman Mark Gjonaj,
Senator Alessandra Biaggi,
Comptroller Scott Stringer,
and Assemblyman Michael
Benedetto. Our new 45th Precinct
Commander, Captain
Thomas Fraser was the keynote
speaker.
There are a number of
things we will be addressing
in 2019, including the sale of
the Westchester Country Club
to Fordham University for
use by their crew and sailing
teams, as well as the tractor
trailers illegally parking on
MacDonough Place. In this
regard, we will be working
with the Community Board,
the Spencer Estate Civic Association,
NYC Department of
Transportation, as well as the
45th Precinct.
As many of you have noticed
the daffodils are in
bloom on the triangle by Providence
Rest. Many thanks to
the Country Club Civic team
who planted them last October.
Can’t wait until everything
is in bloom.
On another subject, a
word of warning; this week I
encountered a new scam. I received
a call with the caller
ID of Experian (the credit reporting
agency) and a plausible
phone number. The
woman started talking about
my MasterCard and VISA
card. I could hear ‘call center’
noise in the background so I
hung up. The number shown
on my caller ID was the legitimate
number that belongs to
Experian; I checked. This is
called spoofi ng. The scammers
are now able to fake
both the name and call number
of legitimate businesses.
I actually called Experian to
verify it was not them; alas,
there is no way to speak to a
human at Experian. I did put
alerts on my accounts, however.
This is probably overkill.
Currently, we have one
speaker scheduled for our
Wednesday, April 24 meeting.
Chrys Napolitano will present
new information on the
vegetable co-op and the Farmer’s
Market at Preston High
School. In June, we expect a
presentation from Fordham
University regarding their arrival
and how they will use
the space.
As usual our meeting
will be held at the Villa Maria
Academy lunchroom, located
at 3335 Country Club
Road. The association can be
reached via mail at P.O. Box
211, Bronx, N.Y. 10465, and via

Bingo Night For The Troops.
All the proceeds of this event

care packages to our troops
serving in harms way. It is a
huge undertaking to put this

of no greater cause, God bless
everyone that is involved.
The following day Saturday
the 18th we will be heading
to St. Raymond Cemetery,
the new and old sections, to replace
the fl ags on the graves of
our veterans before Memorial
Day. Let’s have a good turn
out to honor these men and
women for their service to this
great country.
The weekend of Memorial
Day we will be hosting our
BBQ, day and time to be announced.
Please take a moment
to say a prayer for the
three U.S Marines killed in
action in Afghanistan, may
they rest in peace. That is all
for now.
We are stronger when we
work together.
God bless America.
