THE AECI CHARTER SCHOOL NETWORK
NOW PROVIDING A SECOND LOCATION IN THE SOUTH BRONX
AECI opened its doors in 2008 and
currently serves 450 students in grades
9-12. Our school mission is to create a
rigorous college preparatory academic
program that provides students with
a foundation of the necessary skills,
knowledge, and practical experience to
pursue a path leading to college and/or
a career in the architecture, engineering,
or construction industries. Our school
graduation rate for 2018 was 94% and our
students pursue college degrees in CUNY,
SUNY, and private colleges. AECI has
earned the badge of Best Charter
Schools for 2019 from the U.S. News &
World Report. Only 40% of 21,552 schools
across the nation qualified for this
designation
The culture of our school is driven by our
commitment to the school’s Core Values:
Integrity, Perseverance,
Achievement, and Respect
By popular demand, AECI is opening a
second location in the south Bronx. The
second high school will serve grades
9-12 and will be a Computer Engineering
& Innovation themed school. The student
body at AECI is culturally diverse with a
population that is 65% Hispanic and 35%
African American. Both schools include
sports teams, after school activities and
student-centered clubs. The school
supports moral and character
development while addressing every
child’s social and emotional needs.
We have scheduled an Open House this
upcoming Saturday May 18th and May
25th from 11am to 1pm located at 838
Brook Avenue. Everyone is welcome to
come. Light refreshments and pastries will
be provided.
Approximately 12% of our students are
English Language Learners and 21% of our
students are categorized as students with
disabilities. Our school currently has a 95%
attendance rate.
In order to achieve its mission, the New
York City Charter High School Network
(AECI) is committed to providing a rigorous
college preparatory learning environment.
AECI emphasizes science and math
proficiency, effective communication and
critical thinking skills through a standards-
based curriculum that meets or exceeds
the New York State Learning Standards.
Through collaboration with industry
partners and post-secondary institutions,
students gain work-based experience and
college exposure opportunities. Some
of the theme classes that we offer our
students starting in ninth grade are
Drafting, Intro to Computer Science, and
Revit which lead to industry certification in
senior year.
