DIAZ INDUCTS JEWISH HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2018
Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. and the Bronx Jewish Historical Initiative honored the
Class of 2018 Jewish Hall of Fame with a prestigious induction cereony on Wednesday, November
28 at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. This year’s honorees included Emmy Awardwinning
actress Renee Wexler Taylor Bologna; Betty Weinberg Ellerin, retired justice of the
NYS Appellate Division, First Department; Ethan Geto, Geto & de Milly founder; American
author Charley Rosen; Rabbi Levi Shemtov, head rabbi at the Chabad Lubavitch of Riverdale
and Michael Spierman, Artistic Director, Bronx Opera Company music director and principal
conductor.

GJONAJ SUPPORTS INTRO 728’S PASSAGE
Councilman Mark Gjonaj joined fellow council colleagues and mom-and-pop shop owners
to call for the passage of Intro 728 - a bill that would put an immediate moratorium on the
city’s outdated storefront signage law.

KING’S 12TH COUNCIL DIST. HOLIDAY STREET LIGHTING
Councilman Andy King, the Mosholu Preservation Corporation, the East 233rd Street and
White Plains Road Merchants Association co-hosted the third annual 12th Council District
Holiday Street Lighting celebration on Tuesday, December 4 at Willamsbridge Square.
King (l) told the story of Hanukkah to 500 children and adults before lighting three candles
on a 10-foot tall Menorah, representing the third day of Hanukkah.
