After an incredible run, (Davenport
Theatre, Playroom Theatre and the
Schomburg Center) GMC Entertainment
Inc. steps in to present a special performance
of ‘Then Sean Met Khalid’ the
musical featuring Hip Hop legend and pioneer,
Curtis ‘Grand Master Caz’ Brown
in his off broadway debut! With an already
powerful show, wonderful cast, he
defi nitely kicks it up multiple notches!.
‘Then Sean Met Khalid’ is an important
show, one that needs to be seen by
all. It is a hilarious yet thought provoking
show that tackles racism in a refreshingly
different manner. It is the story follows
the life of a Black boy, Sean White,
who is adopted as a baby by a middleclass
white family. Life seems ‘normal’ for
Sean until he comes across an interview
between Sean Hannity and the late Dr.
Khalid Abdul Muhammad. The characters
are startlingly relatable; the scenes
are uncomfortably close to home and
prompt immediate self-refl ection. With
the help of powerful songs, the show
cleverly tackles white privilege in a very
accessible way. With a brief talk-back
following every show, it creates the perfect
forum, and starting point for discussions
on race.
The show will be held at the Andrew
Freedman Home, 1125 Grand Concourse,
on Saturday, December 22. Doors open
at 6:30 p.m.

inventive.
